Rasul Jafarov, condemnat a 6,5 anys. Intiqam Aliyev, condemnat a 7,5 anys. Ambdos activistes azeris van ser entrevistats en el treball de camp que va realitzar l’ODG el passat mes de juny. En Rasul era president de l’entitat Art for Democracy i en Intiqam advocat defensor dels DDHH. Ambdos, des de l’art i l’advocacia, eren crítics amb el règim de la família Aliyev que governa amb mà de ferro l’Azerbaidjan després del desmembrament de la URSS. Van ser imputats per frau fiscal, càrrecs fabricats que han portat a més de 100 persones a la presó.
Quina relació i responsabilitat té la Unió Europea? La Unió Europea projecta un megagasoducte de connexió entre l’Azerbaidjan i Itàlia (veure article) que soldarà els interessos de la UE amb el règim dels Aliyev, sobradament conegut per alimentar-se de la venda de gas i petroli. No és un projecte qualsevol, és el projecte energètic més important de la UE per la propera dècada. Per aquest motiu diverses entitats europees han organitzat la setmana que ve a Brusel·les un esdeveniment per fer visible l’altra realitat d’aquest megaprojecte:
