The transition Plan: the ODG’s commitment to become an ecofeminist organisation

The ODG’s Ecofeminist Transition Plan and the Protocol for handling violence from an intersectional perspective are now available.

In the summer of 2020, as a result of the work carried out in the last strategic plan and in response to the social concerns of the moment, in the ODG we made the commitment to take an inward look from an ecofeminist perspective, which would allow us to reflect deeply on how we wanted to apply our values and principles to our the internal organisation.
To this end, we began a process of diagnosis with the Esberla Cooperative, which allowed us to analyse which were the important aspects on which to focus our work.
The “Ecofeminist Transition Plan” summarises three of the major challenges that social organisations and movements are currently facing: the practical incorporation of feminism, environmentalism and anti-racism at all levels of the organisation’s internal functioning (shared imaginary and values, structure and human interaction), in order to continue moving towards coherence, social justice and care.
The monitoring process for the elaboration of the plan was structured over one year – from December 2020 to November 2021 – and had different work phases: information gathering and fieldwork, elaboration of the diagnosis and elaboration of the action plan.
The proposed actions were categorised into different areas related to the heartbeat, mission and vision; composition and governance, organisation of time and work, care and health mechanisms, eco-social transformation, narrative and partnerships, and responsibility for the eco-social impact. For each of these areas, we have identified different actions to be developed in the coming years.
All of them are aimed at accompanying us on this journey to make the ODG a more feminist entity from an intersectional perspective.

Protocol for the prevention and handling of violence from an intersectional perspective

One of the actions envisaged was the development of a Protocol for the prevention and handling of violence from an intersectional perspective, not only addressing violence against women, but also LGBTI-phobic and racist violence.
In order to do it, during 2022 we have had, once again, the support and advice of our colleagues from Esberla and the Cooperative T.i.c.t.a.c. From this 2023 onward we have the work of starting to implement it.
